Three can’t-miss March events from across the state.
28th Annual Hawaiian Weekend [Henniker]
As the weather warms up and the days grow longer, Pats Peak welcomes spring skiing with their annual Hawaiian Weekend, where island life meets ski life, if only for a few days. For the whole weekend, every department of the ski resort tries to out-tropic one another with decorations and costumes. Guests are encouraged to join in with their own surf shirts, leis, and hula skirts. The days consist of a Rail Jam, tons of photos, and Hawaiian-themed lunch, but apres is when things really start to heat up with live music by Jah Spirit Reggae Band in the Sled Pub and the feature of Harpoon’s UFO Pineapple beer.
U.S. Alpine Championships [Waterville Valley]
As the biggest event Waterville Valley has seen since 1991, the town is beyond excited to welcome the elite skiers competing in the U.S. Alpine Championships to their own mountain this month. No need to turn on your TV to watch some of the best skiers in the country compete in slalom, giant slalom, and parallel slalom – just head to Waterville Valley! Spectators can cheer on their favorite racers slopeside, then head to Waterville’s dining spots like Mulligans Tap Room or T Bars for the chance to rub elbows with some notable athletes.
80s Day & The Old School Duel [Franconia]
$10 off a full-day ticket? At Cannon Mountain on the 30th, it’s as easy as showing up in your best 80s gear, whether it’s actual vintage wear or just exemplifies the neon and loud patterns of the time. There are prizes for the best dressed so don’t be afraid to go all out, though the main event is the Old School Duel. Show off your best daffys, helis, and spreadeagles for the chance to win some “totally rad” prizes. As the sun sets, head to the apres party in the Pub to cheers dine, drink, and dance to the 80s cover band, Fast Times.
