Vintage Christmas [Portsmouth]
This month-long holiday celebration could likely get Scrooge into the festive spirit with endless shows, shopping, and strolls in the weeks before Christmas. With The Music Hall boasting an array of professional shows (including this weekend’s Elf the Musical!), to Strawberry Banke’s candlelit stroll, to the opening of Puddleduck Pond, there’s truly something for everyone. Moreover, there are many merry events throughout the month including, a gingerbread house competition, the tree lighting, illuminated parade, plus, unbeatable sales in city’s favorited boutiques and shops.
12/15 – 12/16
The Nutcracker [Durham]
A tradition for many families each year, The Northeastern Ballet Theatre puts on a production of The Nutcracker, giving dancers of all ages a chance to perform and exhibit all they have learned in the previous year. This year, the show will be held at the Oyster River High School’s auditorium.
Holiday Pops [Concord]
Each year The Capital Jazz Orchestra rings in the big holiday week at the Capital Center for the Arts. This mini-orchestra brings the season to life with a classical take on holiday favorites like “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and “Silent Night.” The band will be accompanied by vocalists CJ Poole and Laura Daigle as well as NHPR’s Laura Knoy reciting “The Night Before Christmas.”
