Three can’t-miss events in April.
Pond Skim [Gunstock]
Don your best costume and pack a spare outfit because this is Gunstock’s BYODC (bring your own dry clothes) event. 100 contestants of all ages speed down the slope-runway dressed as yetis, hula dancers, and celebrities before hitting the pond –– where they either successfully skim across the top to land or sink into the water. Either way, the attempts end in applause and awards for Best Cross, Best Splash, and Best Costume. When the contest is complete, the party welcomes all to the Landing Zone patio for food, drink, and live entertainment provided by local band Shark Martin.
12th Annual Earth Day Festival: Be Water Wise [Auburn]
This family-friendly celebration welcomes guests to celebrate Earth Day with a festival of live music, face painting, a bonfire, yummy fare, and fun events all afternoon. Activities range from live frog and turtle presentations, guided nature walks, and even an awe-inspiring raptor release presented by Maria Colby of the Wings of the Dawn Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Not only will the festival at NHA Massabesic Center be fun and information-filled, but you’ll also leave with a bag of water conservation tips and tricks.
Discover WILD NH Day [Concord]
Try your hand at archery, casting, fly-tying, and B-B gun shooting at New Hampshire Fish and Game’s biggest event of the year. Discover WILD NH Day invites families and friends to explore the state’s wildlife resources and outdoor traditions. Peruse the wildlife educational presenters from booth to booth, animal exhibits, petting zoo, craft stations, and snack on local fare while browsing this year’s top hunting and fishing gear and gadgets.
